So, my Clients and Friends often say that they don’t have time to read …
… and to them I suggest an Audible subscription, which is low cost and gives you a wide choice of books that you can listen to through the app.
This subscription ensures that I “read” (well listen to actually, but I’m still absorbing the information), a minimum of a book per month and I find it really easy to just put the headphones in on a car journey or around the house and listen whilst I’m doing other things.
Now, let’s dive in, my current top 5 favourite Leadership Books for Women are:
5) The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
This book really helped me to understand that we are part of a much greater picture. Basically, the frequency we emit is what bounces back to us in our life. So the secret is the Law of Attraction, and that by following it, you will lead a calmer, happier and more prosperous life.
It talks in depth about visualization and manifesting your intentions. I think there’s probably been times in all of our lives, definitely for me, when visualization has worked, we’ve had the thoughts which become our reality, and this book explains what you need to do to strengthen your frequency for positive outcomes. I loved the book, read it twice as it reinforced that we all have so much untapped potential and power within ourselves and that we really can achieve anything.
Lots of big name contributors in it too, such as Bob Proctor, Jack Canfield, Joe Vitale who give their insights on how ‘the secret’ has worked for them and I found it super inspiring, a great read.
4) Take control of your life by Mel Robbins
Now I was a bit sceptical at first about this book because I thought it was going to be about dealing with past trauma in your life and how to deal with those fears related it. I consider myself extremely grateful that I haven’t experienced life changing bad experiences so I thought that this wasn’t going to be the book for me.
However, Mel all sorts of other fear related aspects such as self doubt, rejection, imposter syndrome and lots more, that we all fear at sometime and many on a daily basis. She gives great advice on how to combat the triggers that make us react when we get these feelings and basically, advice to live your life to the fullest. So I’m glad I continued to listen as it was an insightful and useful book that I certainly learned from.
3) Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo.
Now Marie has so much life and business experience and in this book she tells us of her path and the struggle of not knowing where she fit in and what she should do with her life. That everytime she took on what she thought was her dream job position, she’d soon get the feeling that it wasn’t enough for her, nor did she feel it was it her destiny.
She felt that something was wrong with her because of this which just shows that amazing things often come out of a muddle in the beginning. This book has a real feel good factor about it, that inspires you to know that you don’t have to have it all worked out, nor the exact roadmap of where you’re going and that when you dream big and have the courage to overcome your fears, everything is figureoutable. Easy listening, encouraging, motivating, I enjoyed it and I’m sure you will too.
2) The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Ruben
I’ve read this twice as well and each time it makes me nod my head and laugh to myself. Gretchen hits the nail on the head with the 4 archetypes of people, being either Upholders, Obligers, Questioners or Rebels. She explains what each are, every little thing that each of these people do, their characters, traits, beliefs and quirks. She gets it right and her accurate summary of each is quite entertaining. This is really helpful knowledge when managing relationships, staff and people in general because you’ll soon understand what category they sit in and how to respond and play to their strengths and weaknesses. If you decide to read it or have already read the book, let me know your type, I’m a questioner for sure.
Now my favourite book out of all that I’ve read, and I’ve read quite a few is …. (drumroll please …)
You are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero
This is one of a few from her ‘Badass’ series and I love them all, but picked this as my favourite because Jen has a fantastic and relatable sense of humour that helps you to overcome the obstacles that’s stopping you from having the wealth you desire and Jen herself has done that very thing.
I loved how she tells it in a lighthearted story too, but, if you’re looking for ways to make money overnight, which we all know isn’t realistic, then this isn’t the book for you but she gives a great message that you can be the biggest badass that you want to be, when you stop doubting yourself and just do it. I think she’s a great author and I loved it as it reinforces that every one of us has unique gifts and we should stop playing small.
I’m currently reading …
Make It Happen by Victoria Knowles-Lacks, and she’s really inspirational too. This book talks about how she went from burnout to balance on her own journey, so I’ll keep you posted when I’ve read it, but so far I’m loving it …
