Healthy Diet, Focused Mind. Try It!  So I came back from a trip with a friend and my Husband makes an announcement. He’s decided to start and eat healthier whilst I’ve been away. Now don’t get me wrong, we don’t each much crap anyway, however we do eat a little too much for sure. The Champagne (Monkey 47/Tonic, Budweiser, Guiness – insert as you see fit) goes down way too easily. Off course, moderation is the key 😁

I know that when I’m eating well, my mind becomes sharper and I’m more focused to get things done, hence more productive too. I was more than happy to join in his plight as this could only produce positive results. Easier too when you’re both doing it, to avoid temptations.

So the fridge is now stocked with salads, meats and fruits. The fact that there are no biscuits at all in the cupboard, completely removes temptation for me. I sat down for ten minutes and wrote down  what I could add to these meals to make sure we didn’t get sick of salads. It’s amazing when you have a focused mind  for just 10 minutes, what you can come up with to give a different perspective and improve your thinking to get you excited. I’m not just talking about the salad of course, but as entrepreneurs, we need to do this regularly. We need to spend a little time going back to basics to help generate new ideas.

My thoughts were :-

  • Olives
  • Boiled Eggs
  • Avocado
  • Speciality cooked meats
  • Shrimp
  • Nuts
  • Fruits
  • Cheeses
  • Boiled new potatoes/Jacket potato as a low carb option

 

Expand a little further …

I then expanded further on these options to go deeper to produce my shopping lists which meant I always had a basis to start from and wasn’t short of ‘content’ so to speak. Whilst I haven’t been ‘hung up’ on this when I go shopping, it has helped to give me direction to ensure that there is always something healthy to eat. When it comes time to make the meal, I’m not stressing myself with the next step or feeling overwhelmed that I’ve too much to do without this healthy eating lark. This of course leads to inconsistency and poor results and then we end up feeling unmotivated, and the cycle begins.

 

Don’t deprive yourself …

Drinking coffee when I want and a glass of something stronger now and then, means that I don’t feel deprived. Making an effort to drink as much water as I can and having my evening meal at a reasonable hour has definitely helped me to sleep better. I am now 6 days in to my better daily habits and certainly feel like I have more energy (not enough to go to the gym!) and more focused during the day.
